    Use

    Mainly used as an insecticide, it is often used to prevent and control the larvae of various insects such as mosquitoes and flies. It can be used in indoor, outdoor, home and public places and other environments.

    DEET is widely used as an insect repellent for personal protection against biting insects. It is the most common ingredient in insect repellants and is believed to work as such in that mosquitos intensely dislike its smell. And it can be formulated with ethanol to make 15% or 30% diethyltoluamide formulation, or dissolve in suitable solvent with vaseline, olefin etc.

     

    Application

    The principle of DEET: First of all, we must understand the reason why humans attract mosquitoes: female mosquitoes need to suck blood to lay eggs and lay eggs, and the human respiratory system produces carbon dioxide and lactic acid and other volatiles on the human surface can help mosquitoes find us. Mosquitoes are so sensitive to volatiles on the human surface. So it can run straight at its target from 30 meters away. When a repellent containing Deet is applied to the skin, Deet evaporates to form a vapor barrier around the skin. This barrier interferes with the insect’s antennae chemical sensors to detect volatiles on the body surface. So that people avoid mosquito bites.

    When applied to the skin, DEET quickly forms a transparent film that resists friction and sweat well compared to other repellents. The results show that DEET has stronger resistance to sweat, water and friction than other repellents. In the case of sweat and water, it can still be very effective at repelling mosquitoes. Water splashing includes swimming, fishing and other opportunities for substantial contact with water. After a lot of friction, DEET still has a repellent effect on mosquitoes. Other repellents lose their repellent effect after half of the friction.
